Emmanuel Iduma

La forma della luce

What does a Nigerian intellectual of the latest generation see when he arrives in Venice? What things impress him, and what leaves him indifferent? What are his thoughts upon encountering people and Western culture? What are his thoughts upon encountering people and Western culture? Emmanuel Iduma's gaze is attentive, severe, and investigative. His clear and hypnotic prose transports us into a world of memories and relationships that unfolds along the thread of images from Lagos and Venice. An essential book that connects us with an intellectual and artistic world, the African one, which we still know too little about.

The book is accompanied by a series of photographs by the author and other contemporary African photographers.

Preface by Maaza Mengiste, translated by Barbara Del Mercato.
