Serenella Iovino is Professor of Italian Studies and Environmental Humanities at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Author and editor of eleven books and over 150 essays and articles, she is one of the leading figures in the international debate on environmental humanities.

Serenella Iovino wrote the preface to Venezia e l'Antropocene (Venice and the Anthropocene) for wetlands. She is also co-editor, together with Shaul Bassi, of the Barene series published by wetlands.
