Dedicated to the Querini Stampalia Foundation, one of Venice’s leading cultural institutions, this volume launches a new Wetlands series: the Ecocritical Guides. In what is perhaps the most touristic place in the world, this guide aims to completely rethink the concept of a “guidebook”—no longer a simple travel tool, often filled with stereotypes and simplified narratives, but a true opening of perspective on a place that reveals a broader horizon of meaning.
Starting from a specific site—in this case, Palazzo Querini Stampalia—the reader is taken through a compelling series of ecological interconnections that reflect the global challenges of the Anthropocene. In this way, a visit to any single place can become an opportunity to fundamentally rethink the world we wish to inhabit.
